The sad garden I would like to revive.  I will need some sand to mix with the clay-like soil.

The last tenants painted this in the living room!
Also, one cannot live here without a fan. Blessed fan!

September 8

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! Family, friends, and coworkers.  I'm feeling blessed.

Yes! a great night of jazz for my birthday!

My favorite part was these three guys jamming together, they had it!
My other favorite was My Funny Valentine: bachata rendition!

Marie was invited to sing next week, can't wait to support her.
You know where to find me every Monday.

My roommates made me brownies with ice cream, best rommies ever!

Marie was fascinated with how they spell vanilla, so she took a picture.

September 7
 Day at the beach!
Playa ensenada

Places to eat and sit at the beach
Over to the left is where I won 2/3 games of dominoes with a couple Dominican women.

Beach lunch, such delicious fish! with Dominican sweet potato, plantains, arroz moro, and avocado

September 6

The hat I bought in Santo Domingo was not ready for the beach...

September 5

Made Pasta Pernata with garlic bread for dinner with friends, turned out perfect!
(not dry, the egg crust was soft and fluffy, and the sauce was delicious!)

September 4

Bought pants to fit in in Santiago.  And they're a tad tight, even more Dominican!

September 3
my roommates

roommates plus!

Finally had a night out dancing musica tipica (bachata, merengue, salsa).  Yes, it's a Wednesday, but I don't teach the rest of the week, it's essentially my weekend.

September 2
Took a break from lesson planning to walk up to the monument with Courtney!

The view from the top. It was so nice and breezy, what a beautiful city.

September 1

First day of class!  My roommate imitating our students.  This is exactly their accent.
That's Courtney cracking up trying to do work.
